The GM2000 X-ray Peaking Detector has long been the staple of the Alvord Systems product line. Originally designed in 1980 using technology that has withstood the test of time, the GM2000 unit is a manually operated high performance measuring system designed to accurately measure the relative intensity of a generated x-ray beam consistently while retaining a low maintenance level.
The simplicity of operation makes this unit easily adaptable to existing Alvord Systems x-ray piezogoniometers or to other commercially manufactured units in the quartz crystal industry. The Geiger-Mueller tube and amplifier unit coupled together display an output on the analog meter. Supplied with a Geiger Mueller tube assembly, the GM tube detects a x-ray of sufficient strength, the tube conducts and causes a change in the current drawn by the tube. This change is of a very low level signal that must be amplified before it can be used by the system. The GM2000 contains a sensitive amplifier that converts this low level current change in the GM tube output to a voltage displayed on an analog meter.
