Alvord Systems is dedicated to designing and manufacturing reliable high quality customized equipment. Our x-ray instruments, fixtures, slurry saw blade packs and various test and measurement systems have been proven dependable by years of service in the quartz crystal, semiconductor and aviation industries.
COMPANY HISTORY
1969 Established by Thomas S. Alvord as a manufacturers'
representative.
1971 Developed precision alignment system for slurry saw blade packs
for the quartz crystal industry.
1973 Roy J. Harmening joined Alvord Systems as a full partner specializing
in the managerial duties of the production department and the fabrication
of parts and customized fixtures.
1976 Designed and manufactured the GM2000 Amplifier Stand Alone Unit
for the measurement of diffracted x-ray beams.
1977 Designed and manufactured Asymmetry Flap Testers for the aviation
industry.
1978 Designed and manufactured the first U.S. built dual operator digital
x-ray instrument for quartz crystals.
1979 International sales of x-ray instruments began.
1980 Incorporated.1982 Designed and manufactured x-ray high voltage conversion
kit for Philips x-ray machines.
1987 Developed mounting system for the x-ray measurement of quartz bars
for sawing.
1990 Co-designer and manufacturer of semi-automatic x-ray diffraction
goniometer.
1990 Research began on the development of an automatic x-ray goniometer.
1992 Designed and manufactured x-ray system for lumbering quartz bars.
1994 Designed a prototype for an automatic x-ray goniometer and began
testing the theory of x-raying quartz round crystals.
1995 Designed and implemented into our blade production department an
automatic saw blade cutting machine.
1995 Implemented a quality control process for precision alignment of
slurry saw blade packs.
1995 Upgraded our Model 50 Piezogoniometer with a microprocessor controlled
liquid crystal display.
1995 Designed and manufactured the MP2500 microprocessor controlled GM
Amplifier Stand Alone Unit with liquid crystal display.
1995 Established U.S. representation for sales of Mitsunaga Lapping Machines
and Asia Electronics Multi-Blade Saws.
1995 Developed the Model 50AD Piezogoniometer with a microprocessor controlled
LCD display and a "peak" angle detector.
1996 Developed the Model 50AD Piezogoniometer with a motorized goniometer
wafer station.
1996 Obtained a Phase I Benjamin Franklin Challenge Grant to expand research
and development of Automatic X-ray Piezogoniometer for SC (stress compensated)
quartz crystals.
1997 Qualified for a Phase II Benjamin Franklin Challenge Grant to expand
research and development of Automatic X-ray Piezogoniometer for SC (stress
compensated) quartz crystals including fabrication of a prototype.
1997 Developed fixturing for the manual orientation of SC cut crystals
on the Model 50AD Piezogoniometer.
1998 Developed the single operator Model QZ-45 Piezogoniometer incorporating
the ergonomical desk design of the former Model 25AP with the motorized
goniometer station of the Model 50AD.
1999 Replaced the analog meter on the display panel with an easy to read
LED Bar graph which registers the peak angle in visual and optional audio
output.
2000 Roy J. Harmening retires after 27 years with the company. Thomas
S. Alvord takes full possession of the corporation as the sole owner.
